Magnum Opus — Privacy Policy
Magnum Opus ("the App") is a personal knowledge vault developed by NeuroDev Labs ("we", "us", "our"), Lagos, Nigeria. The App is private by design: your documents, notes, recordings, and chat histories are stored on your own device, not on our servers. This policy explains exactly what is and isn't processed, and your choices.
1. Your Content Stays on Your Device
- Documents and imports. PDFs, scanned notes, saved articles, and audio files you import are stored and indexed locally on your device.
- Chat histories. Conversations you have with your documents are saved locally.
- No accounts, no cloud library. We do not run a cloud copy of your vault, and we cannot see its contents.
2. Information Processed to Answer Your Questions
When you ask the App a question about your documents, your question and the small, relevant excerpts of your documents needed to answer it are sent, encrypted, to our AI processing provider to generate the response. This processing is transient:
- Only the excerpts relevant to your question are transmitted — never your whole vault.
- We do not store your questions or excerpts on our servers.
- Your content is not used to train AI models and is never sold or shared for advertising.
Working fully offline? Features that don't require AI generation (browsing, reading, and keyword search of your indexed library) work without a network connection.
3. Other Information We Process
- Basic diagnostics. Anonymous crash reports and performance data (device model, OS version, error traces) to keep the App stable. These contain none of your document content.
We do not collect your name, contacts, or location, and the App does not show ads.
4. Permissions the App Requests
- Files / storage access — to let you import documents and audio you choose.
- Camera — only when you scan a physical document, at your request.
- Microphone — only when you record audio notes, at your request.
- Network access — used for AI-generated answers and fetching web articles you save.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
You are in full control: delete individual documents or chats inside the App at any time, or remove the entire vault by uninstalling the App. Because your library lives on your device, device-level backups (e.g. Google's Android backup) are governed by your device settings and Google's policies, not by us.
6. Security
Your vault is sandboxed to the App by the Android operating system, and all network traffic for AI answers is encrypted in transit (TLS). We recommend protecting your device with a screen lock, since your vault is only as private as the device it lives on.
7. Children
Magnum Opus is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly process children's personal data.
8. Your Rights
We operate under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA). Because your content never leaves your device except as described in Section 2, most rights (access, correction, deletion) are exercised directly inside the App. For anything else — including questions about diagnostics data — email us at the address below.
9. Changes to This Policy
If we change how Magnum Opus handles your data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will also be announced in the App.
