Sift ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is a screenshot organization app published by NeuroDev Labs, Lagos, Nigeria. This policy explains, in plain terms, what data the App accesses, how and where it's processed, who else touches it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Android and iOS versions of Sift.
With your permission, Sift reads the photos and screenshots on your device (Android's READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO permissions, or the equivalent photo-library permission on iOS) so it can organize and tag them. You can also send images to Sift directly from another app's share sheet. Sift does not access your contacts, call log, location, calendar, or messages, and does not request any permission beyond photo/media access, notifications, and network access.
This is the part of Sift that involves your content leaving your device, so we're explaining it in full rather than summarizing it away.
Sift uses Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect crash reports and basic performance data in production builds — things like device model, OS version, app version, and the code path where a crash happened. This is standard Firebase infrastructure and may include an IP address and a Firebase-generated installation identifier, per Firebase's own data handling. Crash reports do not include your screenshots or their extracted text.
Sift uses Firebase App Check (backed by Google Play Integrity on Android) to confirm that requests for the shared AI key described in Section 2 are coming from a genuine copy of the App, not a modified or repackaged one. This exchanges a device-attestation token and does not collect personal data about you.
Sift shows optional rewarded ads (via Google AdMob) that let you unlock additional AI tagging for the day when you've used up the free daily allowance. AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads, and may personalize ads based on your consent choices. If you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you'll be shown a consent form before any personalized ads are requested, in line with Google's EU User Consent Policy. You can manage ad personalization in your device's ad settings at any time, and watching a rewarded ad is always optional — it is never required to use the App's core features within the free daily allowance.
Sift Pro subscriptions are billed through Google Play Billing (or Apple's App Store on iOS) and managed via RevenueCat, our subscription management provider. RevenueCat receives purchase and transaction data — not your screenshots or their contents — necessary to validate and manage your subscription entitlement. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Sift may show local notifications (for example, a processing-complete alert) generated entirely on your device using your device's own notification system. No notification content is sent to or from a server.
Sift may occasionally suggest opening one of our other apps (Pulse, Context, or Magnum Opus) when a screenshot's content looks like a good fit for one of them — for example, a calendar-worthy event. Tapping that suggestion only opens a link to that app; it does not automatically transmit the screenshot or any of its content to the other app.
Sift does not require an account or login, does not collect your name or email address, does not access your contacts or location, and does not run any analytics or tracking beyond what's described in Sections 3–6 above.
Your screenshots, extracted text, and tags remain on your device until you delete them (including via the App's built-in Purge feature, which is entirely local) or uninstall the App — uninstalling removes the App's entire local database. You can revoke Sift's photo/media permission at any time in your device's system settings. Data that has already been sent to Google (Section 2), Firebase (Section 3–4), AdMob (Section 5), or RevenueCat (Section 6) is retained according to each of those providers' own policies, linked above — we don't control those retention periods and can't delete data on those providers' systems on your behalf beyond what their own tools allow.
Google, Firebase, AdMob, and RevenueCat operate infrastructure across multiple countries, which may be outside your own country or Nigeria. Where content or data is transmitted to these providers as described above, it may be processed on servers located outside the country you're using Sift in. Each provider maintains its own legal safeguards for these transfers under its respective privacy policy, linked throughout this document.
All network traffic between the App and the services described above is encrypted in transit (TLS). Your local database is sandboxed to the App by your device's operating system. We recommend protecting your device with a screen lock, since your local Sift data is only as private as the device it lives on.
Sift is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the App in a way that concerns you, contact us at the address below and we will help.
We operate under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA). You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you, and you may object to or withdraw consent for processing at any time — in most cases simply by uninstalling the App, since your content lives on your device rather than on our servers. To exercise any of these rights, or to lodge a complaint, email us at the address below; Nigerian residents may also contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, you have equivalent rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR with respect to our own processing, in addition to whatever rights you can exercise directly with Google, Firebase, AdMob, or RevenueCat as independent data controllers for their own processing. If you are a California resident, you have equivalent rights under the CCPA; Sift does not sell personal information.
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above, and where a change is significant, we'll also make reasonable efforts to flag it inside the App.
